Poetry has been a part of my life for so long that it feels like an extension. Whether it is reading, writing, discussing or just enjoying the rhythm of words and the feelings and images invoked in poetry, I love poetry. I must admit though that I have never had to review a book of poetry but when the chance came along to review The Traveller Series, I could not refuse.
The Traveller Series pens the travels, experiences, places, people and emotions of writer Tiffany Teoh in forty one poems accompanied by beautiful photographs of her travels. I loved the cover that invoked a feeling of being at sea and starting off on an adventure. And what an adventure this turned out to be. Tiffany writes from the heart, her use of words so simplistic but capturing the essence of the moment and painting feelings, colors and places right before your eyes as you read. Her poems touch on loss, love, being brave enough to face another travelers day, meeting new people, longing and finding balance and peace. Her travels took her not only on a physical journey but an emotional journey as well and joining her on her travels through her words and photographs is an absolute joy to all the senses.
I just love the lines “There was something so settling, about his unsettling nature, it was as if he needed, to touch every cell on, the epidermis of this Earth, just so he could begin, all over again.” She uses words that roll off your tongue and then back again, and with every uttering, a new meaning, a new feeling and another layer is exposed. Two lines, “Have we met? I feel like I’ve fallen in love with you before.” and so much is said and implied.
Definitely a must read for poetry lovers who, like me, prefer the simplicity of words used to create depth that is discovered upon reading and re-reading, tasting the words, rolling them around and stringing them in sequence to evoke and challenge. “See, I consider my angels, to be strong, but I need someone, whose angels are stronger.”

About, The Traveller Series:
The series started from a longing to want to travel after hearing all the good and bad tales from long term backpackers.
Every single piece that made it and didn’t make it in this is book has a special place in my heart as they were the beginning of a journey of a memory that never happened, but a longing that was constant.
We all naturally have it in us to wonder and wander, it’s just a matter of allowing it to take you to places.
